Review: Virgin

VirginVirgin by Radhika Sanghani

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hilariously intellectual! Literally went out of the ball park. Just great.

First off, I would like to say that this something I would recommend to any young teenager or adult. Basically anybody with a vagina because although the title itself is called VIRGIN, it is just because it is told from that perspective, however, that person does have friends that are far from being a virgin, so it covers more ground. READ IT!. I can guarantee that this book will get you laughing and being able to relate to things most girls trip over on when it comes to this particular topic.

Oh! And this ain't no PG story, it goes into detail, not medically but physically and is not at all CORNY/PORN-Y.
The characters do kind of talk about porn and cliche stuff, and laugh and bond over having but many things to relate to. Shoot, I felt part of their discussion most of the time too!.

The funniest part for me that I cannot get over was their discussion about blow jobs/hand jobs and their not-so-great experiences when performing the sexual act. I have never laughed so much and so hard when reading a book. I had tears come down my face. I was so glad I read this within the privacy of my own bedroom. I would've had that awkward moment where you experience something huge in a book, but then you look around and everything is just peachy. Throughout reading I was able to relate to so many things. I would catch myself blurting out things like, 'me too' or 'I've done that before' or 'I' ve thought of that too', especially 'glad that's never happened to me before'. These characters were so great and out there, I never had a dull moment. I was constantly playing tug-of-war, I either wanted to hug'em or smack'em in the face. Then I'd stop and think about how I had once been in that situation or how easy it could've been me in that situation.

Also, if you are somewhat familiar with a few words such as snog, knackered, and mate, great. You'll immediately know it takes place somewhere like London. Which is what they say for kiss, tired, and friend. I'm American so I don't really hear those words but I did see a movie that had snogging as part of the title, I just can't quite remember the rest. And I had a pamphlet from a uni I had applied to over there so, yeah.

FINALLY, this book is about Ellie and her ever-present V-card. Cherry. Whatever you called it, virginity. It is still intact, and she just wants to get rid of it, because she feels as if she doesn't fit in. She feels left behind. She has nothing holding her back from losing it. No religious restrictions, self-willing, not waiting til marriage or The One. She is just, unlucky.

It delves into her past experience with boys and her ignorant adolescent childhood. Now she is just wanting someone to find her attractive enough to release her from all the pressure she feels. Along the way, she gets help from her friends and sets out on her plan. Despite the fact that she is not totally focused on her last year at uni, she is too pressed with her V-issue. One night stands, arguments, and new friendships later she meets somebody. Progress! Things start turning up. But that does not last. She does mend her friendship, and begins another friendship that is totally worth mentioning because it's her first gay best friend!!!

Some things turned for the worst, but hey at least she got what she wanted.
In the end she finally comes to terms with things, albeit too late, but better late than never.

Overall, this was a fantastic read, absolutely enjoyed this book. I could not put it down once I started. Again, I recommend this funny insightful book, a must-have through and through.

Review: Rushed

22457818Rushed by Gina Robinson

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Loved it. Loved it. LOVED IT!.

College: Sororities. Frats.
Things will get wild. Totally crazy. But fun...

There was never a dull moment. I literally felt as if I were living the life of a sorority girl and having so much fun and making friends, and more than likely frienemies (ugh), but it is part of the college experience. I, myself, am a college student. I was able to really enjoy the events that occurred and I was more often then not, like-minded with the characters. It was so easy to sympathize with them, and feel as strongly for what they were going through. The fun was so thrilling and the parties were detailed perfectly. It made me wonder why I was reading late at night on a Saturday about going to a party on a Saturday night.

And then I remembered that I love books.

Finally. First off, the main characters are Zach and Alexis. They practically fall for each other the second they gaze up at one another. The fact that they live in the same Sorority house doesn't help much. They just can't stay away from each other. They keep getting drawn together closer and closer. He is the house boy, she is the third-generation legacy...and their are rules in the house. Houseboys are inferior. Not up to standard, and if they are caught sleeping with a girl from the house, the consequences are far from lenient and way past harsh.

The story was set at an easy pace, not too slow or at all rushed (pun intended). Just right. Loved the puppy scene. Very slick and hilarious. I wish there was more to read about the relationship between Zach and his parents, as well as Alexis and her parents, especially her mother. I also wanted to know the depths of Alexis' punishment and what happened to Morgan.

The events that played out were fantastic, not the actual happening of what occurred, but how well they complimented the whole story in general and flowed smoothly. Every detail was on point, I cannot stress that enough. Beautifully written. No big mistakes as far as I could see (even without my glasses). Just a typo here and there, not that much that stood to out me to where I had a problem reading.

Overall, this was just great work. I loved the story and absolutely look forward to the next book coming in the Fall.

Fifty Shades Freed by E.L. James

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Not quite exactly fond of the ending. Yes, was indeed euphoric and serene, but I, personally, did not want the ending to come so soon. Haha, I'm sure I'm not the only one to not wanting this story to end. But this was an amazing journey and experience. Highly recommend.

Review: Fifty Shades Darker (Fifty Shades #2)

Fifty Shades Darker by E.L. James

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book made me actually consider becoming an entrepreneur, I might change the major I intended on going to college for from Japanese to Business & Marketing. *laughs* Or I might just become a writer, author, whatever it is too publish some of my work. Or maybe work at a publishing agency after college.

My first intended major was English, but I didn't think I would be able to become a well known author to actually do well, so my safety net was to become an English teacher since my English teacher never failed to let me know that I wrote 'extremely well'. But I don't know... keep whoever reads this posted.

Illicit by Opal Carew

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Sad to say that this book was only 4 stars, I thought this book really shook me to my toes, but not to my core... Nevertheless, this book was enticing, wild, and outrageously unique compared to other books I've read so far. Can honestly say that I have never read anything like this before.

Review: When It's Love (When It's Love #1)

20750460When It's Love by Emma Lauren

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Titillating. Mind-boggling. Pure sin.

Such rich, and utterly sensual material.  [The story] really got my full attention and kept me at the end of my seat. Loved how the reader kept the reader guessing and a bit in the dark about Sydney's tragic past. Finding out who she really is and why her mom is the way she is. Most writers explain it all in the beginning, but Sydney's backdrop gradually came to light whenever certain things would trigger memory.

It gave the writer the chance of elaborating the main character's situation with a better understanding for the reader. I, honesty, was able to put two and two together in the very beginning and new the truth behind the emails Sydney received and Henry's behavior and need to stake claim whenever he got the chance. I feel sorry for Sydney having a past without much needed love and nurture, even her grandparents were a bit stand-offish, much less her mother. The words were so raw with emotion that I felt it all coming off at me in waves. The love scenes were extremely well written, for some it is hard to not come off and corny or porn-y, but rest assured it was enticing to read and flowed deliciously.

In the end, I wondered what Sydney was going to do about Henry, and if she will be able to overcome what he did, but it seems that the answer will be in the sequel.

Overall, I really enjoyed this quick read and totally recommend it. I'm looking forward to the next step Sydney takes in the sequel When It's Over. Thank you Emma Lauren for allowing me to read your story, keep up the good work!

Review: Willing Victim

Willing Victim by Cara McKenna

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was just too good to be true. This read was like an answer to my heart's deepest desires. Truly, a dream come true if this were to happen to me...

Not only do I compliment the writing style, but how surreal it all seemed, although it did seem as if it could really happen to anybody.

Reading this made me envy Laurel, and happy for her as well. Even before her confession moment about her mother.

To be honest, I can relate to Flynn. His mention of insecurity, self doubt and shame. Especially when it came down to sexual prefernces.

I have his preferences, but Laurel's experience and willingness in the beginning.

That's where the envy kicks in *chuckles*

I mean, what were the odds of Laurel meeting Flynn that day, and him being open to take her offer for lunch, and to invite her along to see what he was really like that weekend? What were the odds of Flynn actually being only with Laurel and no one else? And what of his sister and niece, much less his mention of Robbie and how he idolized him.

In the end, Laurel just wanted someone to take care of her and love her, unlike her mother. Michael Flynn was a really great guy. He made himself seem like a no-good-son-of-a-bitch, well, if you wanted him to be...
He was real sweet, and a good body language reader. He called her out and she was grateful afterward. She finally analyzed everything that made her hold an invisible shield up and she her own insecurity for what it was. They had there laughs and tear jerkers, and not to forget the hot moments.

Overall, this read was perfectly right for me. This book was recommended to me and I cannot thank them enough for their suggestion. This was just my cup of tea.

Review: Need You Tonight (Loving on the Edge #5)

17798500Need You Tonight by Roni Loren

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was absolutely unbelievable!! Totally amazing!! And I am NOT just saying that!. I was squealing and laughing and brought to tears by this book, as well as insanely mad at the antagonist and more than once did I want to reach into the book and bitch slap the crap out of'em!.

I guess what really got me was the whole geek and the popular girl thing going on. I mean, in the beginning it was completely juxtapositioned and a bit strong, but not too overwhelming. Then later on their former selves came to light; nicely eased into. However, that can't be said for how quick things got hot, steamy, and just right. But if you can't handle the heat, then get out of the kitchen.

This was this first time I actually felt connected, or empathy, for lack of a better word, for both main characters. Especially the main Dom in this erotica love story. Most of the time the Dom's flaws, or more vulnerable sides aren't shown, but I think in this particular scenario, it fit in perfectly, and most definitly gave more understanding of the Dom's dominant attributes. Very well written, and more so with the sex scenes. It is important to write a scene that isn't corny or porn-y and it was executed extremely well from start to finish.
