Review Tour: Austin (From the Inside Out #4)

Review Tour: Austin by S.L. Scott

1 Woman 2 Endings – You Choose – Team Dylan or Team
Austin. Sept 29 read one or both to see how it all plays out.

Four years ago, I was tempted with money, prestige, and power by a woman who offered to give me the world. That lifestyle came with a price. I had to leave the love of my life—the one person who had already given me everything I would ever need.
Today I watch Jules Weston in another man's arms. Wanting... needing her back in my life again. But there are obstacles that keep us apart. Her boyfriend. Her best friend. Her anger that has raged inside her over the years.
Despite those, I've returned to take back what's mine. The one thing I regret leaving behind—her heart.

Wow, such a quick and wildly beautiful chaos.

I just sped through this. Considerably better, but still on the same level as Dylan.

Team Austin....not particularly. I'd prefer to be Switzerland, or Team Brandon!!.

This story had the moving-forward, move-on, the-past-is-the-past kind of vibe.

This was written better, had better scenes, less cheesy dialogue, still somewhat the same events as Dylan, although not quite. The story's atmosphere was way lighter and uplifting even though it was shorter than Dylan. Not really much background to reminisce in either. I found that a bit depraving 'cause Dylan had a whole bunch of the past in the present. It was mentioned, but less was more in this case.

The way Austin and Jules had sex seemed way hotter too, so I consider that a plus. Brandon hardly made an appearance this time. I felt really bad for Dylan in here. I found it weird not being sorry for Austin back in Dylan, but having now read this, I thought it served him right.
I found the issues between Austin and Jules very entertaining, unlike the repetitive and past problems that just would not go away. The things Austin did or didn't do made me just want to smack him. Now after reading both, I wish Brandon was an option. He was so sweet and cool and way better than Dylan or Austin.

In the end, it was a semi-HEA, I think. Dylan is still who Jules thinks about from time to time, but not in the forefront of her mind.

Overall, I liked this quick read. Had an interesting experience, compared to Dylan.

We shared a love that regulated every heartbeat and every breath we took. It was all
encompassing. I thought our love could withstand time and anything thrown our way.
I was wrong. So wrong.
I used to be happy. I used to be Juliette Weston when Dylan Somers filled my life
with promises of love and a happy ever after. But when he took my heart and broke it
into a million pieces, I became someone else entirely. In one afternoon, I lost my soul
mate. I lost everything I knew myself to be.
Three years later, the man who destroyed me is back.
To assuage his guilt? To finish the job? It doesn’t matter... I won’t let him this time. I’m stronger. I’ve moved on. He won’t affect me.

Excerpt: Fractured Lines by Jen McLaughlin **GIVEAWAY**

Publication: October 14, 2014

The lines we once crossed so easily have widened and torn us apart…
Once upon a time I thought Finn and I would live happily ever after, but real life doesn't always have a happy ending. He's testing my trust, and I'm losing faith in the man I thought I'd spend the rest of my life with, and there’s nothing I do can stop it. He’s the one I trusted to keep me safe, but now he’s the source of my greatest pain…
Forgiveness is fragile, and some fractures never fully heal...
One mistake—a slip in a moment of weakness—might cost me everything I've worked so hard for. The thing about trust is that it's a lot easier to lose than it is to build. Just as I'm about to give up and surrender to the demons from my past, an unexpected threat reminds me what I'm best at: protecting the woman I love. Whether or not she wants me, I will fight for Carrie and our daughter, and I will keep them safe—no matter the cost.
Even if I have to put my life and my heart on the line.

Excerpt:

I lowered my face even more. “I need you so damn bad. Let me kiss you. Let me make it better. I know how to make it all better.”

I brushed my lips across hers gently, testing her reaction. She kissed me back. So soft I barely felt it, and yet I somehow felt it down to my soul.

With a small groan, I closed my mouth over hers, crushing her against my chest and holding her so tightly I might have broken a rib. Man, I’d been waiting for this moment. For her to stop shutting me out. For her to want me as much as I needed her.

And now it was happening.

I slanted my mouth over hers, taking full control of the kiss. Backing her up against the wall, my tongue glided inside her mouth at the same time I slipped my leg in between hers. She gasped and opened her mouth wider, granting me full access.

Without hesitation, I took it, and then I took some more. Like the greedy asshole I really was.
Part of me knew I should stop kissing her until I was better, but the other part of me wanted her too damn badly to give a shit about anything else. When I closed my hands around her hips, my fingers digging into the soft sides of her ass, she broke off the kiss and took a shaky breath.

I latched onto her neck, biting with just enough pressure to sting. It had been too long since I’d had her. Too long since I’d held her. Too long for everything. My injured leg protested against the weight I put on it, but I ignored the cry of protest it gave. Any pain I had to suffer was worth it, as long as Carrie was in my arms again, making those small sounds that drove me fucking insane.

Excerpt:

An exhale of breath leaves Brandon’s lips, almost like a laugh, and he scoots closer to me on the blanket. I twist my legs under myself, sitting tall as I face him. He cups my chin and tilts it toward him, drowning me in the now dark-green depths of his eyes, the cologne I gave him for his birthday filling my head. It’s woodsy and yummy and I always loved how it smelled on the store testers, but on Brandon, it’s even sexier. My eyes flutter closed, and I inhale again, this time slowly. Goose bumps prickle my arms, and my head gets fuzzy.
Brandon slides his hand down the column of my neck and brings the other up, threading his fingers through the hair at my nape. His breath fans across my cheek, and everything south of my bellybutton squeezes tight.
When his mouth first meets mine, it’s hesitant, questioning. But as I move my lips with his, he quickly grows bolder, coaxing them apart.
Desire, pure and raw, electrifies my veins as his tongue sweeps my mouth. A whimpering sound springs from my chest, and instinctively, I wrap my arms around his neck, tugging him closer. Needing more. My teeth graze his full bottom lip, and I pull it, sucking on it gently.
He moans and knots his fingers in my hair, and a thrill dances down my back.Brandon is an amazing kisser, just as I knew he would be. I have no control over my body’s reactions. I lose myself in his lips, his tongue, and his strong arms, forgetting time and space and even my surroundings—until Gabi’s snicker brings reality crashing around us, reminding me we have an audience.
And that I’m kissing Brandon.
We break apart, out of breath, and stare into each other’s eyes.
That was unexpected.

Review: Burying Water by K.A. Tucker

Burying Water
The top-selling, beloved indie author of Ten Tiny Breaths returns with a new romance about a young woman who loses her memory—and the man who knows that the only way to protect her is to stay away.

Left for dead in the fields of rural Oregon, a young woman defies all odds and survives—but she awakens with no idea who she is, or what happened to her. Refusing to answer to “Jane Doe” for another day, the woman renames herself “Water” for the tiny, hidden marking on her body—the only clue to her past. Taken in by old Ginny Fitzgerald, a crotchety but kind lady living on a nearby horse farm, Water slowly begins building a new life. But as she attempts to piece together the fleeting slivers of her memory, more questions emerge: Who is the next-door neighbor, quietly toiling under the hood of his Barracuda? Why won’t Ginny let him step foot on her property? And why does Water feel she recognizes him?

Twenty-four-year-old Jesse Welles doesn't know how long it will be before Water gets her memory back. For her sake, Jesse hopes the answer is never. He knows that she’ll stay so much safer—and happier—that way. And that’s why, as hard as it is, he needs to keep his distance. Because getting too close could flood her with realities better left buried.

The trouble is, water always seems to find its way to the surface.

First impression of Tucker's work is absolute perfection.

THEN: Jesse works at a mechanic shop with his friend Boone, who invites him to a lounge where rich folks mingle. This one woman catches his eye, not because of her looks, but because of the way her own husband treated her. He later recognizes her as the woman he helped on the side of the rode when she drives right into the shop with a familiar looking BMW as well as her long toned legs, and those lips he could not forget the taste of.

NOW: This girl wakes up in a hospital with amnesia. No recollection of how she wound up being left out on the side of the rode to die, or the abuse prior to. With nobody to call and no place to stay, her doctor gives her the option to stay at a neighbor's. Somewhere to start over, start fresh. Little does she know, the guy with the loud barracuda next door knows a whole lot about her than she does herself.

The storyline was superb! Unbelievable! I was totally sucked in, drilling holes into my nook with how focused I was reading this story and watching events unfold. The traverse from different time periods went very well with this plot in particular. It was not hard to follow, although you had to pay attention to the traverse from every chapter if easily confused.

Jesse was very down to earth, didn't care for the fancy stuff much. All about the simple life. To an extent. He had morals. And he definitely abided by them. Even though a few of his choices were not ideal, much less the fact that his past didn't really paint a pretty picture. He knew what was right, and what was wrong. He saw the abuse. Boone was a good guy. Meant no harm, had good intentions. That technically led Jesse into something not quite so. Alex was such a sweetheart. She was so young and naive when she made that one choice that set her for life. For money, yes, but to also not struggle. She more than paid the piper. She even condemned herself for getting even. But she was able to get that one wish she had, which was to start over.

Overall, I was so pumped to reading this! I mean, c'mon! This is by K.A. Tucker. This is the first book I've read by her, and all expectations were surpassed with flying colors! I could not put it down, I had to read this in one sitting, and I did thank you very much. I was squealing my head off, punching my pillow, kicking my legs between the intervals of every chapter, then every few pages because there was always something happening that made me hot and bothered. Or sad and nostalgic. Or steaming-out-of-my-ears pissed. This book was literally a great workout. I'm pretty sure I lost 2 pounds in my arms.

Blog Tour: Review: Loving Eden (Kissing Eden #2) **GIVEAWAY**

Blog Tour: Review: Loving Eden by T.A. Foster **GIVEAWAY**

Much love, affection, and appreciation.

Displaying LovingEden_FrontCover.jpg
Have you ever thought of packing up everything you own and moving halfway across the country?

I’m talking about leaving your entire life behind—friends, family, school—with no turning back. No? Me either, but that was before a week of spring break changed my life forever. Before I did something I never thought I’d do at twenty-two. Before I fell in love with Grey.

Sometimes happily ever after isn't always what you think it will be.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This story starts off after the first book in this series Kissing Eden.
Eden is driving down from Chapel Hill to South Padre to now begin living with Grey at the Palm. She expects nothing to go without a few bumps on the road, but what she doesn't prepare for is a whole ditch, making things definitely go awry. With newcomers at the Palm, out-of-the-blue relatives, and a wedding to attend, will Grey and Eden ever get to live there intended life together?

This book is one of those that are quaint and simplistic in story-telling. Less is more. This book is, in a way, a bunch of goodness with less material which I think is a great feat to accomplish as a writer. The plot in itself was not all that out there, it was a bit practical, although not all that predictable in some cases. There was conflict, but not enough to actually cause total chaos. Everything seemed totally fine and dandy even when things didn't go quite as planned, according to the characters' perspective.

Eden's persona was definitely something to envy, and cherish, and never taken for granted. She was in a way realistic in her choices, but very naive in others. But when it comes to love, there are no rules. Grey is much older, literally, but in the way he acts makes him seem much older. Take his position with the Palm for instance. Very manly, a bit of rough edges, good with his hands, smart, loyal, and a high sex drive are very promising attributes.

A bunch of things were brought to light. Under pressure, a lot of the characters had a moment, or two, when they just bugged out. Not uncommon. Many obstacles were overcome, and set upright. After Grey found about about his Grandfather and Uncle, it was obvious that Grey was effected, as was his Uncle. They both sort of felt the same but for different reasons that were practically two sides of the same coin.

Overall, this was a great read that I could not put down. Although this wasn't my favorite, considering I read Foster's Fly first, which is my favorite, it was nonetheless still very enjoyable and had tons of laughs and squeals throughout reading. I will always be looking forward to reading more of Foster's work.
